Unlocking the Beginner's Mind

The rules of kids TV are being rewritten on a daily basis by an explosion of new platforms, genres, formats and voices. Those who’ve spent their careers honing their instincts about what works and what doesn’t are going to be wrong a whole lot more often now. This shouldn’t be seen as a setback—in fact, it’s a gift. We get to be beginners again. We don’t have to know the answers right away, but do have to look at every creative problem through fresh eyes. And we get to go back to the humbling but exhilarating feeling of riding a vertical learning curve. Join veteran producer Evan Baily for a look at what we thought we knew but didn’t, what we’re kinda sorta starting to know, and how to enjoy the beginner’s journey from end to end.
