Mary Coleman is Head of Creative Development at Pixar Animation Studios. She joined Pixar in 1999 to help form their development department, where she is currently working on films slated through 2021. Coleman works closely with directors from initial concept through final draft, helping them articulate their vision and prepare pitches. Coleman is the first woman to participate in Pixar’s Brain Trust, providing feedback on story reels throughout the filmmaking process. Before joining Pixar, Coleman was Associate Artistic Director of San Francisco's Magic Theater. Pixar recognized that her experience developing new plays would translate well to their unique style of creating stories. Coleman attended Amherst College, and received a Masters of Fine Arts from University of California, San Diego. She lives in Berkeley, CA.
