In the good old days of children’s entertainment, producers, licensees and retailers had a pretty solid idea of where, when and how many kids were watching shows. Data is much more difficult to come by now, and licensees and retailers are hesitant to place their bets without the comfort of hard numbers. This licensing conundrum won’t stop kids from increasingly doing their viewing on Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime and VOD platforms like YouTube. So what’s the licensing business to do?
