Karen is a multi-Emmy Award-winning Development Executive, Executive Producer and Showrunner. Since joining 9 Story in Toronto in 2019 as VP of Development and Production, Karen has steered four preschool series from development into production with creators and writing teams in Canada, the US, and the UK. Her current development slate is a mixture of preschool and older kid comedies with stellar creatives and partners.
Karen spent 20-plus years in NYC, 15 of those at Sesame Workshop. The highlight was developing and executive producing the multi-million dollar reinvention of The Electric Company where she came under the guidance of Joan Cooney. She led a nimble, creative animation and live-action team and tapped the new talent of the day like Lin Manuel-Miranda, Will Harper and Reggie Watts.
Karen has also held executive positions at Nickelodeon, CBC Kids and Spin Master. She draws inspiration from character-driven comedies including Fleabag, VEEP, The Office, Bluey, Wild Kratts and the original animated How The Grinch Stole Christmas (Boris Karloff – come on!). She is a dual citizen of Canada and the US.
