Carl Reed’s career in media creation spans 20 years, working with several high-profile clients to produce a variety of content from comic books to broadcast animated series, toys, and videogames.

Carl recently launched Composition Media, a diverse and forward-thinking animation studio with an innovative approach to making animated film and TV content for a global audience, with much of the content highlighting minority and underrepresented communities.

Prior to Composition Media, he worked with companies including Disney, MTV, Warner Media, Nickelodeon, and Sony Pictures Animation, to name a few. Carl co-founded Lion Forge LLC in 2011 and later co-founded Lion Forge Animation in 2018 alongside founder David Steward II. While with Lion Forge, Carl produced Matthew Cherry’s Hair Love, which won an Academy Award for Best Animated Short; Rise Up, Sing Out, an Annie Award and NAACP Image Award-nominated animated musical series featuring music by The Roots for Disney Junior/Disney+; and the Emmy-nominated animated musical series Rhymes Through Times, created by Nick Jr./Noggin featuring music performed by Christopher Jackson (Hamilton).

Carl is based in St. Louis, Missouri.
