Dete is an award-winning creator and producer of successful films and television series as well as a best-selling novelist.

In television, Dete has been a productive executive on series such as Home Improvement and served as Executive Producer on Saint George with George Lopez for Lionsgate. Her film credits include hits Good Sam, Bernie, What Men Want, and many others.

In children's media, she produced the animated feature Space Camp for DreamWorks (2023) and serves as Executive Producer for an upcoming animated series for AppleTV+ (2024). She is also the Executive Producer and Showrunner of Weather Hunters, a STEM-focused series in collaboration with Al Roker Entertainment and PBS KIDS and is currently in production. This marks her second STEM series, following her role as Executive Producer and Owner of Ready Jet Go!, an astronomy and earth science show on PBS KIDS and available in 120 countries.

As an author, Dete has written four best-selling, award-winning novels: Good Sam — adapted into a Netflix film she wrote and produced, Perfectly Good Crime, The Good Stranger and The Space Between. Her non-fiction book Random Acts of Kindness is in development as a feature film, and her next novel, The Memory Collectors, will be published on May 20, 2025.
