Eric Calderon is an independent writer, producer, and YouTube educator with more than 30 years of experience in the world of animation production and development. He was one of the pioneer non-Japanese executives who successfully worked within the Japanese anime ecosystem and developed and co-produced the anime industry’s only Emmy Award-winning series Afro Samurai (Samuel L. Jackson, Studio Gonzo, FujitTV, SpikeTV). He has also collaborated with Japanese studios and talent for nearly half of his career and was the first executive to oversee an independent American comic book adapted into an anime (Witchblade, Top Cow Comics). In addition to being a buyer, scriptwriter, producer, and theme park franchise creative director, Eric also hosts an educational YouTube Platform called Surviving Animation, which focuses on street-level advice about the business of cartoons.
