Federica is an Editorial Consultant at Rai Kids , where she collaborates closely with Director Roberto Genovesi to shape the editorial co-production and acquisition strategy for Italy’s leading public children’s channels, Rai Yoyo (zero to eight) and Rai Gulp (eight-plus), and the FVOD platform RaiPlay. Her work focuses on scouting high-quality content, facilitating partnerships with major global broadcasters and international partners, and supporting the expansion and growth of the Italian production commissioned by RAI. She plays an active role in ensuring the new editorial direction of Rai Kids is reflected in the commissioning and acquisition of innovative local and international productions, with cultural relevance, audience-focused storytelling, and multiplatform potential.
The new Rai Kids editorial strategy is built on one clear expectation: stories must be truly engaging, powerful enough to captivate children and transport them into universes they’ve never explored before. Rai Kids is looking for projects with strong, memorable protagonists—heroes or anti-heroes—with distinct personalities, meaningful flaws, and an undeniable narrative charm. Stories must be well structured, with solid acts, a clear dramatic arc, real conflict, and characters who confront challenges, face consequences, and grow through their journey. They expect creators to refine, rethink, and even rewrite their ideas until the narrative becomes irresistible. Rai Kids encourages authors to explore alternative plotlines and to momentarily forget the story they want to tell, focusing instead on what can truly resonate with young audiences today. For the new Rai Kids, “good” is not enough—every project must aim to be great.
