Daniel is a Costa Rican composer and songwriter whose work spans film, television, and interactive projects. Most recently, he contributed original songs and themes to Sony's KPop Demon Hunters, which debuted at number one worldwide on Netflix and went on to become the platform’s most-watched film ever. The film’s soundtrack also reached number one on Billboard and major streaming charts, and has received multiple awards and nominations, including five Grammy Award nominations.

His television work includes the acclaimed scores for Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts and Marvel’s Hit Monkey and M.O.D.O.K., where he has emerged as a distinctive voice in contemporary scoring. With roots as a songwriter and producer, Daniel has developed a style that fuses modern song production techniques with cinematic storytelling.

Born and raised in Costa Rica, he grew up in a musical family, with a mother who is a classical pianist from China and a father who is a Costa Rican trumpet player and band director. After building a classical foundation and spending years playing in bands, he pursued jazz studies on scholarship at the University of North Texas. He later moved to Los Angeles, where he worked in top studios, contributed orchestration and additional music to feature films, and eventually launched a full-time composing career.

Other credits include Illumination’s Minions & More 1 and 2 (Netflix), and Fly Hard (HMMA Best Score for Animated Short, 2024), Who Invited Charlie? starring Adam Pally and Jordana Brewster, the Emmy-winning YouTube series Jam Van, and Nickelodeon’s Monster High. He received the 2020 ASCAP Harold Arlen Award and is a voting member of both the Recording Academy and the Television Academy.
