Michael is Director, Original Programming for DHX Television, managing Family Channel, Disney Junior and Disney XD. In this role, he oversees the slate of original shows and movies for the networks while continuing to develop television productions to air across all platforms.

DHX Television’s current slate of original programming is a testament to Michael’s success, garnering 14 Canadian Screen Award nominations in 2015. Amongst the recognized series that Michael helmed is the popular reality-style dance drama, The Next Step, which bows for its third season in Spring 2015, after garnering record-breaking network ratings for the series’ premiere. Also part of his portfolio are Gaming Show (In My Parents’ Garage)– a series following three video game obsessed teens as they explore the virtues of gaming while shooting field segments with notable stars – and Grizzly Cup, a competition series set in the wilderness that recently completed its second season.

Since joining Family Channel, Michael has been involved with the development of prominent award-winning series including Wingin’ It, Stella and Sam and Justin Time. The tween live-action comedy productions Debra, Really Me and What’s Up Warthogs!, as well as the new Disney Junior shorts Yup Yups and the Disney XD Canada original movie Bunks, were also part of Michael’s tenure.

Michael has more than 14 years experience in the television production industry. Before joining Family Channel, Michael was the Director of Original Content at TELETOON where he was involved with the development of series such asTotal Drama World TourandSkatoony. He has also worked at Corus Entertainment, holding the position of Director of Broadcast Sales and Promotion for Nelvana. His knowledge and experience in the industry led him to become part of a team dedicated to the Qubo Project, a television and multimedia network for children that supports literacy and positive values.

Michael holds a Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of Toronto.
