Dr. Jennie Ito is a play and toy consultant. She has a Ph.D. in developmental psychology from Queen's University in Ontario, Canada, with a specialization in children’s play and cognitive development.
Dr. Ito began her career with a fellowship in Museum Evaluation and Museum Education at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, DC. After that, she worked as a play expert for the Association of Children’s Museum’s Playing for Keeps Play Initiative, providing play resources to parents and museum professionals.
In 2013, Dr. Ito started her own play and toy consultancy called The Play Kitchen, and is currently working on several projects in the Bay Area. Her clients include Coolabi, LeapFrog, Peaceable Kingdom, and Joyus.
In addition to her work as a play and toy consultant, Dr. Ito blogs for hello, Wonderful and works as a Toy Evaluation Specialist for Dr. Toy’s Guide where she helps select recipients for Dr. Toy’s Annual Best Product Awards.
