Joe Lawson is Head of Content Licensing for Rovio Entertainment's Brand Licensing Unit, where he oversees licensing of the Angry Birds IP for movies, television, live shows and location-based entertainment as well as entertainment content development and production. Upcoming Angry Birds projects include The Angry Birds Movie 2, releasing August 2019 through Sony Pictures Entertainment; a long-form animation series in development with Cake Entertainment; a game show in development with Big Fish Entertainment and MGM Television; live stage shows, including Angry Birds on Ice; and several original short-form series for YouTube. Lawson also oversees content distribution, which includes the Angry Birds YouTube channel that has 2.75 Million subscribers and averaged over 110 million minutes of content watched per month in 2018. Their most recent series, "Angry Birds on the Run" has new episodes premiering weekly. Previously, Lawson was program lead on the first Angry Birds Movie and prior to joining Rovio, Lawson spent several years in marketing, promotions and licensing at DreamWorks Animation and at 20th Century Fox Licensing & Merchandising, where he oversaw many high-profile initiatives for The Simpsons, including award-winning promotional campaigns and The Simpsons Ride at Universal Studios.
