Sebastian Debertin helped create and launch KiKA – Der Kinderkanal of ARD & ZDF in November 1996. As Head of Fiction, Acquisitions and Co-Productions, a position he has held for more than 15 years, Sebastian oversees all international acquisitions, productions and co-productions. Sebastian has won several national and international awards, including an Emmy.
When it comes to acquisitions and co-productions, he looks for all genres of programming from international sources. Furthermore, he is responsible for program development, contract negotiations with national and international partners, relationship management with KI.KA’s international production and distribution partners, supervision of productions, co-productions and dubbing projects, and securing third-party funding. In his role as Deputy Managing and Programming Director, Sebastian is responsible for international business affairs and development on behalf of the channel.
