Dr. Lynn Oldershaw is a developmental psychologist, and has worked at the CBC for 14 years as an Executive in Charge of Production for preschool programming. She provides child development and research expertise, specifically as it informs CBC’s mandate and objectives for children’s programming, the development and production of children’s shows, outreach initiatives, and online properties. As a member of the Kids’ CBC executive team, Lynn plays an active role in the planning and implementation of many of CBC’s strategies and initiatives in children’s programming.

Lynn received her Ph.D. in Developmental Psychology in 1989 from the University of Toronto.  Prior to working in children’s programming, She has worked as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry (University of Toronto), the Department of Psychology (University of Western Ontario), and as Research Director of the Clarke Institute’s Child Psychiatry Program in Toronto. Lynn’s research and clinical work have focused on the factors that contribute to the social, emotional and intellectual development of young children.

Prior to obtaining her doctorate, Lynn was actively involved in the theater, and the film and television industry. She trained as an actor in New York at the Neighborhood Playhouse School of the Theater, and was involved in various aspects of production, both on-camera and behind the scenes. In her current capacity at Kids’ CBC, Lynn is in the enviable position of being able to merge her two worlds—developmental psychology and the entertainment industry.
