Laura Rodriguez-Costacamps is the Project Manager & Curriculum Designer at the New York Hall of Science's SciPlay Division where she works on projects and programs that leverage kids’ play and playful activities to teach and learn science. Laura received her B.A. in Physics from Florida International University and was a part of the Physics Education Research Group. As an undergraduate student, Laura contributed to research that investigated Modeling instruction, creating and sustaining reformed learning environments, engaging teaching assistants in teaching for understanding, and the negotiation of reformed learning environments, all which contributed to the understanding of processes, practices, and characteristics that promote learning in the context of physics. After completing her undergraduate work, she continued her studies at Texas A&M University, where she was enrolled in a master’s degree program in Health and Medical Physics. Laura has since returned to science education, working as a science teacher and with the Urban Advantage network to improve science teaching and learning in K-12 New York City middle schools before joining SciPlay.
