Channel Manager Children's

ABC - Australian Broadcasting Corporation

I’m the Channels Manager, Children’s & Education TV, for the ABC - the national public broadcaster in Australia.

I am responsible for the programming and editorial strategy for preschool channel ABC KIDS and the school-aged channel ABC ME as well as the ABC TV Education resource. These are broadcast, VOD and online services, with dedicated apps for each. Both ABC KIDS and ABC ME are the industry leaders for children in Australia for their target demographics. We advertising-free content across all genres for 2-6 year-olds and 7-12s, as well as an offering for young teens and families. We choose the best acquisitions from around the world, but have a strong focus on the significant hours of Australian content commissioned and produced by the content team.

The ABC TV Education service is both an on-air and online resource, aligned with the primary and secondary schools’ curriculum in Australia, this includes internally produced news and current affairs content for primary school children.

My background is in general programming prior to the 6 years I have worked in Children’s. I studied post-graduate Communications & Media, majoring in Film & TV Production and Theory. Prior to this I completed a Psychology degree, with a focus on developmental psychology.

Before my 15 years with the ABC I worked in Public Health with at-risk youth and as a volunteer in an Indigenous community school.

I am currently completing a Master’s Degree in Creative Writing.
