Pioneering Pubcasters in the Brave New World of VOD

Traditional public broadcasters have faced the challenges of an ever-evolving “view-niverse” and a much more voracious kid appetite for content head-on with the launch of their own age-appropriate VOD and streaming platforms, groundbreaking formats and programming. Notably in Scandinavia, they’re putting more and more resources into their VOD platforms—sometimes championing them over linear. So far, the results are showing terrific benefits for both the broadcasters and their audiences, but these offerings are creating complications for content creators and distributors in terms of commercial viability and exposure. The future is now, but what does it look like from the perspective of all parties involved?
