Carolina Lightcap is the Executive Vice President (EVP) and Chief Content Officer (CCO) for the 13 network portfolio of Discovery Networks Latin America/U.S. Hispanic (DLA/USH). She is also the Global Lead for Discovery Kids and Family, including the U.S. network Discovery Family. Based in Miami, Florida she reports to Fernando Medin, DLA/USH’s president and managing director.

As EVP and CCO, Lightcap manages all content related areas, which include programming, marketing, program publicity, on-air promotions and digital content, setting the pan-regional production strategy and driving the successful implementation of the company’s content initiatives in the region for DLA/USH’s portfolio of 13 networks: Discovery Channel, Discovery Kids, Discovery Home & Health, Investigation Discovery (ID), Animal Planet, TLC, Discovery Civilization, Discovery Science, Discovery Turbo, Discovery Theater and Discovery World, as well as two US Hispanic networks - Discovery en Español and Discovery Familia.

In her role as Global Lead for Discovery Kids and Family, Lightcap has oversight of U.S. network Discovery Family.

Lightcap began her career at Discovery in 2012 as Head of Content for DLA/USH and General Manager of the Southern Cone.  Under her leadership, the DLA/USH portfolio has achieved its best ratings ever in 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2017 in Latin America.  As General Manager of the Southern Cone, Lightcap led the team to deliver strong revenue growth, as well as executing the successful in-housing of the company’s Ad Sales operation and the move to new and expanded offices, supporting the continued growth of the team. 

Before joining DLA/USH, Lightcap served as president of Disney Channels Worldwide, where she provided leadership for Disney’s successful global kids TV business. She led the successful launch of Disney Junior, a new global brand for kids age 2-7, and drove Disney Channel and Disney XD to deliver record ratings levels while expanding the portfolio's content development pipeline. Previously, she was chief marketing officer for The Walt Disney Company, Latin America for all lines of business in the region, including film, television and consumer products. At the same time, she served as senior vice president, programming and creative affairs at Disney Channels Latin America. She was responsible for programming, production, on-air, marketing, research and publicity departments for Disney Channel, Disney XD and Playhouse Disney Channel (now Disney Junior) throughout the region.

Prior to joining Disney in 2000, Lightcap held executive positions at Sky Latin America, Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment and Fox Latin American Channels.

Born in Buenos Aires, she graduated from Columbia University and is fluent in Spanish, English and Portuguese.

Lightcap serves as a member of the Board for the Television Academy Foundation.
