Why do older Gen Alpha gamers devote so much time (and money) to their avatars on platforms like Roblox and Fortnite? Why are runway games like Dress to Impress topping charts and moving massive amounts of “verchandise”? Why would someone pay two million Robux (US$20,000 in real money) for a one-of-a-kind virtual necklace? And most importantly, how do entertainment brands get in on this action? In this fascinating presentation, Dubit will share two data-driven perspectives on the huge and growing world of avatars, outfits and accessories, discussing the work its studio has been doing launching experiences, stores, pop-ups and item drops for brands such as H&M, Adidas and Barbie; and presenting insights from its Fashion Forum study of the attitudes, influences and consumer journeys of eight- to 18-year-olds in real life and in digital worlds.
