The vast universe of screen content has shifted the viewing landscape in many ways, including allowing older kids to easily re-watch or discover younger-skewing shows, and younger kids to dip into older-skewing content. With the middle ground blurring, the concept of “bridge content” for four- to seven-year-olds has increasingly gained traction with content creators and media outlets. But what makes a show “bridge,” and what appeals to kids across the significant chasm between little-kid four and big-kid seven? Nickelodeon’s new research looks to answer those questions and spark ideas for a new category of content.
