Amy Friedman

Founder & President

Senior Advisor, MTV Scratch

Amy Friedman serves as Senior Advisor to MTV Scratch, Viacom’s creative S.W.A.T team.  With a focus on Millennial culture, their partners include Lady Gaga’s Born This Way Foundation, General Motors, The Guggenheim Museum and others.  

Amy is also the President and Founder of Redhead Consulting, a brand creation and content development company across all media.  Redhead's focus is new models of creating, packaging and distributing content.  Clients include: MTV, Bonnaroo, Scholastic, Insight Strategy Group and Common Cents.

A veteran of the kids' media business, Amy has held senior management positions across all of the Nickelodeon networks, including Nick, Noggin, and TeenNick. As SVP Original Programming/Creative Director, Amy was responsible for articulating and steering both Noggin and Teen Nick's original brand strategy, on-air identity, and educational mission, as well as developing and producing its original programming. Friedman’s work in branding, programming, and pro-social content has earned multiple Peabody, Beacon, Cable Ace and Creativity Awards.

Friedman is a 1986 honors graduate of the University of Pennsylvania where she concurrently earned a B.A. degree in American Civilization and an M.A degree in Education.  Amy serves on the Board of Advisors of Women in Children’s Media and DC-based Campaign to Prevent Teen Pregnancy.  She lives with her husband, Dr. David Appelbaum, a psychologist, and their two daughters in Montclair, New Jersey.
