Disney Channels

Rafael Garcia is vice president, Original Series Development, Disney Channel. Promoted into this role in March 2020, Garcia is responsible for sourcing and developing live-action series for both Disney Channel and Disney+. 

Garcia joined Disney in 2012 and was most recently executive director, Original Series, where he oversaw creative development and production of live-action series including "Fast Lane," "Mech X-4" and "Gamer’s Guide."

Previously, Garcia was director, Current Series, Disney XD, where he was charged with overseeing production of live-action series including "Kirby Buckets," "Crash & Bernstein" and "Lab Rats." 

Prior to joining Disney Channels, Garcia was director, Original Series, Cartoon Network. He began his career at Nickelodeon where he rose to director, Current Series and supervised live-action, animated and unscripted programming.

Garcia holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism and Creative Writing from Baruch College, New York.  He serves on the board of Colour Entertainment Groups, a networking organization that brings diverse entertainment executives together through educational seminars, guest speakers, mentoring and community service.

In 2020, Garcia was selected to join Bob Iger’s Creative Inclusion Council alongside other executives of color across The Walt Disney Company. He is also a member of the Disney Channel Diversity and Inclusion leadership team.
