Shai Samet is a proud husband and father of five, an experienced and award-winning Internet safety and privacy expert, and a college tennis hall-of-famer. When he’s not exploring California’s coastal food scene for the best kosher dish, he's fulfilling his role as the founder and president of the kidSAFE Seal Program, a popular safety certification service and seal-of-approval program designed exclusively for children-friendly websites, mobile apps, and connected technologies, with hundreds of participating members worldwide.
As a lawyer and among the first global practitioners to become a Certified Information Privacy Professional, Shai started his career in Internet privacy back in 1999, while still in law school and at the height of the information explosion. Shai has held many notable positions prior to founding kidSAFE, including lead privacy consultant for Deloitte & Touche’s LA practice and founder of the ESRB’s privacy program for multiplayer video games.
Shai is a frequent writer and speaker on topics related to data privacy (COPPA, GDPR, etc.), creating safe digital experiences for kids, and other cutting-edge Internet and tech issues affecting children and families.
