Maja Braun started her career in television in 2004. She has worked as editor-in-chief for various companies in the television industry on a wide range of projects including multi-camera live, human interest, cultural and youth programming. In 2016, Maja became Commissioning Editor at BNNVARA and was responsible for all content created by outside producers. In 2020, she won The Golden Televizier-Ring for her work as the producer of ‘Over My Dead Body’, a program featuring compelling profiles of young individuals who, despite facing terminal illness, are living beautiful, engaged lives. 

In May 2021, Maja was promoted to her current position as Head of Youth and Human Interest Department at BNNVARA. In this role, she is responsible for kids’ programs such as the funny nature show ‘Stung, Bitten, Burned’, reality series ‘Teenage Boss’ and the popular music show ‘Children for Children’.  In 2022 ‘Stung, Bitten, Burned’ was nominated for a Televizier-Ster Youth.

BNNVARA’s is an independent media organization that creates content centered on social openness and equity. As an important pillar in this media space, BNNVARA focusses on an audience of children from the age of seven and up, producing content that is activating, fun and a little provocative. With the appointment of Maja as its Head, BNNVARA has begun to broaden its scope with new in-house productions, co-productions and commissioned projects. This addition of in-house productions, combined with the adoption of various foreign formats demonstrates BNNVARA’s commitment to expanding the depth and breadth of its youth programming.
