Kevin is a program director at the National Science Foundation, where he provides oversight for a multi-million dollar portfolio that focuses on the use of digital technology and media for STEM learning. Previously, Kevin was director of preschool animation at Netflix, where he sourced, evaluated, and guided the development of preschool television shows.
Prior to Netflix, Kevin was a professor and founding director of the Center for Digital Media Innovation and Diversity at George Mason University where he researched the digital lives of children and families, broadening participation in STEM disciplines and careers, and diversity in children’s media. Kevin has also served as a consultant on children’s television shows, toys lines, podcasts, and apps, and he continues to work on children’s media projects. Kevin holds both a B.S. and M.S. in computer science from North Carolina State University, and a Ph.D. in Instructional Systems (minor in African American Studies) from Pennsylvania State University.
