Monica Sharma is a versatile entertainment executive with a track record of driving results within the kids and family ecosystem. She has a passion for delivering solutions that combine strategic insights, people, and processes to solve business challenges. Monica currently works at Amazon Kids+, Amazon’s digital media subscription service for kids aged 3-12, as the Head of Business Development for Original Video. As part of her role, Monica is responsible for overseeing development and production deals across a variety of formats and business models.
Monica first joined Amazon in January 2020, as Strategy and Operations Lead for the Global Media & Entertainment vertical of Amazon Web Services, Amazon’s cloud computing division. Prior to Amazon, Monica worked at Nickelodeon/ViacomCBS (now known as Paramount) as Head of Strategy and Business Development for Nickelodeon International, where she advised senior leadership on traditional on-air and multiplatform initiatives across Nickelodeon’s international footprint which spans 200+ territories and 40+ languages. Monica oversaw projects that helped develop new revenue opportunities across multiple platforms and assets – everything from linear television to consumer products to hotels and theme parks. Before working at Nickelodeon/Viacom International, Monica worked at the Nickelodeon US division within Viacom, where she advised US sales leadership on a variety of go-to-market initiatives including annual upfront negotiations, budget planning, and new partnerships.
Prior to Viacom, Monica worked for Clear Channel Media and Entertainment (now known as iHeartMedia), a portfolio company of Bain Capital and Thomas H. Lee Partners. As part of their Strategic Initiatives Office, Monica reported to the C-suite and was responsible for managing sales and business operations projects. Previously, Monica worked for a European media start-up in Switzerland and consulted to early stage companies. She was also a runner-up in the New York StartUP! 2012 business plan competition. Monica started her career as a management consultant at Accenture, where she advised clients on key strategic issues. Her projects spanned corporate finance, growth strategy, and organizational re-design.
Monica has an undergraduate degree in business from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, where she concentrated in marketing and finance. Additionally, she holds an MBA from Harvard Business School.
In her free time, Monica enjoys adventure sports, art history, international travel, and of course, kids content!
