Disney Junior

Kim Berglund is Vice President of Development at Disney Junior, the global multiplatform brand behind some of the most cherished programming and franchises for preschoolers on Disney+, Disney Junior, Disney Channel, and other Disney platforms. In this role, she oversees the development of original animated television properties for the Disney Junior audience of kids ages two to seven and their parents/caregivers.

In 2023, Disney Junior hits Kim helped oversee included Superkitties, the most-watched new preschool series for kids ages two to five; Pupstruction and Firebuds; and shows introducing new generations to iconic Disney, Marvel, and Star Wars stories and characters, including Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures and Alice’s Wonderland Bakery, to name a few. Up next for Disney Junior in 2024 is the highly anticipated, music-filled Disney Junior’s Ariel, inspired by the beloved story of The Little Mermaid, starring Taye Diggs as King Triton and Amber Riley as Ursula.

Kim joined Disney Junior as Executive Director of Development in 2019. In addition to being a talented leader and storyteller, Kim’s background in curriculum and education frameworks has been instrumental in guiding and nurturing both seasoned and emerging talent.

Prior to joining Disney, Kim was a key creative executive and curriculum director for PBS Kids, working on award-winning television series including Peg + Cat, Odd Squad, Super Why!, Martha Speaks, The Electric Company, and Dinosaur Train, and played an integral role in developing PBS KIDS’ overall education strategy. Kim previously oversaw the cartoon incubator shorts program at Nickelodeon Animation Studios and served as a development associate at Disney Television Animation, helping develop several series including Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, The Buzz on Maggie, and The Replacements. She has also worked as an independent creator and producer for multiple animated and live-action projects and began her career as a second-grade teacher.

A native of Atlanta, Kim received a BA from Dartmouth College and an EdM from Harvard Graduate School of Education. She is a founding member of the Children’s Media Association (CMA), a nonprofit organization comprised of professionals who are committed to creating and distributing thoughtful, entertaining media to children and young adults, and is also an Executive Committee Member of Children’s Programming for the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. She currently resides in Los Angeles with her husband and their two children.
