The Good Guys: How character traits drive kids entertainment wins

Media is an integral part of most kids’ lives, and it has the potential to help them develop prosocial skills and positive characteristics such as compassion, humility and an aptitude for teamwork. But is it important to kids and families? And does it translate to paying customers? In this session, Common Sense Media and The Center for Scholars & Storytellers at UCLA will unveil the results of a major study examining more than 2,700 movies to see how the inclusion of prosocial character traits correlates to global box-office performance, how similar titles compare to one another, and why creatives should take note.
